There are plenty of ways to take part in Earth Day festivities around the world. In FCF, we held an internal leadership meeting on this particular day, to emphasize the importance of sustainability, and our roles and responsibilities, as one of the world’s largest tuna suppliers, to help the fishery supply chain build its capability to restore and protect our ocean with sustainable fishing.

A variety of valued parties and experts were in attendance to deliver presentations including the Taiwan Fisheries Agency (TFA). The TFA representative shared the latest policy and action plan. Also a Bureau Veritas Certification (Taiwan) representative attended to explain its independent audit role in social audits. This was aided by the vessel owner who was able to share his experience with the social audit format.
FCF has been promoting Fishtopia, the blueprint of fishery sustainability, over the years through its position as global fishery supply chain leader by implementing and introducing several initiatives to help our partners overcome certain challenges, including introducing ERP, a fishery traceability verification system that help FCF thoroughly trace and verify fish source. Additionally, FCF has been expanding its sourcing from MSC, the most reliable and recognized fishery sustainable certificate in the world.
FCF is also proactively collaborating with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), brand owners, processors and fisheries companies for the implementation of FIP, Fishery Improvement Projects, and holding a variety of cross-industry workshops and seminars to advocate fishery sustainability.

During the meeting, FCF leadership team reviewed the current fishery improvement plan framework, as well as to factor in global trends and industry-wide challenges so to make necessary adjustment into the improvement plans and projects in the future.
Sustainability is always the priority and will be an on-going mission for FCF, and we will work with our supply chain partners to press forward sustainability development through various initiatives to protect and support the health of the oceans and the people we reply on.
