The Nauru Skipjack, Yellowfin and Bigeye Tuna Purse Seine Fishery is led by Nauru Fisheries and Marine Resources Authority (NFMRA) with facilitation and technical support from FCF. The fishery group consists of 20 purse seine fishing vessels flagged to Nauru, fishing in particular for Skipjack, Yellowfin and Bigeye tuna within the Western & Central Pacific Commission Convention Area. MSC conducts periodic DNA tests to ensure seafood bearing the MSC blue ecolabel of approval can be traced back to a certified fishery.

To fulfill the vision of providing sustainable, socially responsible, traceable and high quality seafood, FCF began a number of programs as early as 2013 and obtained its first MSC Purse Seine Fishery and Chain of Custody certification in 2018. Going forward, FCF will continue to cooperate with supply chain partners to achieve fisheries sustainability.
