Our Partnerships

FCF has created various strategic partnerships throughout the world to maximize its network of tuna supplies and the rising demand for tuna processing.

South Seas Tuna Corporation

Viewed by the World Bank as a model for development of the private sector economy, South Seas Tuna Corporation (SSTC) is a state-of-the-art tuna processing and loining facility located in Wewak, Papua New Guinea (PNG). FCF founded SSTC in 2000 as a strategic investment with minority interests from Papua New Guinea’s government. SSTC employs more than 2,000 workers—50% of whom are women—from the local PNG community. SSTC is the largest local enterprise in Wewak, employing more than 1% of the local population, producing more than 160 MT of tuna loin per day, and contributing more than 4 Million Kina per month to the local economy. The facility is an important large-scale investment for FCF in the tuna processing industry that has been supporting the development of Small Islands Developing States (SIDS) for nearly two decades. The project also supports the company’s commitment to social responsibility, gender equality, and food security. Importantly, SSTC is certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Chains of Custody (CoC) program, which ensures sustainable tuna products that have been freshly caught in Western Central Pacific Ocean. It is also recognized by Earth Island Institute as a Dolphin Safe tuna processing plant, and has earned the highest levels of British Retail Consortium (BRC) certification.
