Kaohsiung, Taiwan (September 10, 2021) –FCF and Nauru Fisheries are excited to announce that one of the Purse Seine (PS) Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Fisheries that they participated in has officially moved forward to the next level of the assessment process. The publication of ACDR will trigger a 60- day consultation period for stakeholders to provide their inputs.
The Nauru Skipjack, Yellowfin and Bigeye Tuna Purse Seine Fishery is led by Nauru Fisheries and Marine Resources Authority (NFMRA) with facilitation and technical support from FCF. The fishery group consists of twenty (20) purse seine fishing vessels flagged to Nauru. These vessels fish in particular for Skipjack, Yellowfin and Bigeye tuna within the Western & Central Pacific Commission Convention Area.

The MSC certification is a globally- recognized wild-capture fisheries certification and ecolabeling program that meets the best practice requirements set by both the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (UN FAO) and ISEAL.
