(Kaohsiung, Taiwan) In 2022, FCF Co., Ltd. (FCF) continues to support its suppliers to register on the International Seafood Sustainability Foundations’ (ISSF) ProActive Vessel Register (PVR). Through the implementation of multiple Fisheries Improvement Projects (FIPs) FCF also actively collaborates with its suppliers to provide sustainable tuna products and strive towards increasing fishery data transparency and implementation of sustainability policies.

The ISSF was formed in 2009 as a global and non-profit partnership among the leaders in tuna industry, scientists and conservation organizations. The mission of ISSF is to undertake science-based initiatives for the long-term conservation and sustainable use of tuna stocks, and to facilitate continuous improvement across the global tuna supply chain.
ISSF’s ProActive Vessel Register (PVR) provides fishing vessels the opportunity through the PVR registration to demonstrate best practices for sustainable tuna fisheries. Since 2013, FCF has facilitated more than 200 vessels to be registered on the PVR.
To further enhance the sustainability awareness of tuna industry, FCF also held a FIP ISSF best practice workshops in Fiji and Taiwan in 2020, inviting 12 fishing company FIP participants to attend. The workshop covered fishery best practices and explained to supply chain partners how fishing vessels can modify their current fishing techniques and gear to effectively reduce bycatch, non-target and protected species to achieve the goal of sustainable fisheries.

In July 2022, FCF will collaborate with ISSF to hold a series of workshops for sustainability best practices, continuing to progress environmental impact mitigation in tuna fisheries. Aside from MSC assessments and fishery improvement projects, FCF is encouraging its suppliers to continue registration on the PVR. FCF will continue to also provide further industry best practice sustainability engagement activities with supply chain partners as FCF anticipates providing more sustainability products to the market.
