FCF Strengthens MSC Longline Fishery Management Through Targeted Capacity-Building Programs

(Kaohsiung, Taiwan) April 14, 2025 – In response to growing global concerns over fishery resource depletion and stricter market demands for sustainable seafood, FCF Co., Ltd. (“FCF”) has actively advanced capacity-building efforts in its MSC longline fisheries since 2024. The company has conducted a series of targeted training programs for internal employees, fishing suppliers, port-based operational teams, and transshipment vessel partners to deepen understanding and implementation of MSC standards across its supply chain.

These training sessions go beyond introducing the three MSC principles—sustainable fish stock management, minimizing environmental impact, and effective fisheries management—by emphasizing practical execution through the “3 pillars”: Traceability, Identifiability, and Segregation. Through simulations, document reviews, and operational audits, participants are equipped to meet certification requirements through their day-to-day workflows, enhancing data transparency and consistency.

FCF has already achieved MSC certification for its Atlantic longline fishery in collaboration with suppliers. It Indian Ocean longline fishery is currently in the certification process and is expected to be finalized by the end of 2025. In anticipation of evolving MSC requirements, FCF continues to invest in long-term capacity-building to ensure both its internal systems and supply chain partners are capable of continuous improvement and adaptive management.

“The value of MSC certification is not merely about obtaining a sustainability label,” said Jarita , Lee, FCF’s Sustainability Program Manager. “It’s about building a truly transparent and verifiable supply chain. Through these training initiatives, we aim to strengthen stakeholder understanding of both MSC standards and FCF’s expectations—ensuring that responsible actions are meaningfully implemented across the entire supply chain.”

Looking ahead, FCF will continue to expand its MSC-related training efforts, while enhancing collaboration with domestic and international supply chain partners—working together to build a globally recognized, responsible, and sustainable fishery supply chain.
