(Kaohsiung, Taiwan) February 8, 2025 – FCF Co., Ltd. (FCF), a global leader in the seafood industry, reinforced its commitment to environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) by partnering with I Plant for Life Corporation Aggregate in Kaohsiung to plant 450 native trees at Qieding Wetlands. This initiative aligns with FCF’s broader sustainability strategy to support biodiversity conservation, carbon sequestration, and ecological resilience.
FCF employees and their families actively participated in this large-scale afforestation project, demonstrating the company’s hands-on approach to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and its long-term dedication to preserving natural ecosystems.

A Commitment to Sustainability: Remarks from President & CEO Max Chou
During the event, FCF’s President & CEO, Max Chou, reaffirmed the company’s responsibility in fostering a sustainable future:
“At FCF, we believe that sustainability is not just a corporate initiative—it is a core value that guides our decisions. Today, we are not just planting trees; we are planting a commitment to the future. As an industry leader, FCF has a responsibility to take real action in preserving the environment for generations to come.”
He further emphasized FCF’s strategic shift toward sustainability, stating:
“Starting in 2024, we are evolving from a company focused on ‘responsible procurement’ to becoming a truly ‘responsible company.’ This transition reflects our holistic ESG approach, integrating sustainability across all levels of our operations. We hope today’s tree-planting initiative will contribute positively to the local ecosystem while reinforcing our employees’ awareness of environmental stewardship.”

Advancing Biodiversity Through Strategic Afforestation
As part of its ongoing commitment to sustainability, FCF collaborates with I Plant for Life Corporation Aggregate, a leading environmental organization specializing in reforestation and ecological restoration in wetlands and coastal areas.
During the event, experts from the organization provided an in-depth session on the importance of biodiversity and species selection, explaining how afforestation projects contribute to strengthening local ecosystems.
The trees planted during the initiative were carefully selected to enhance soil stability, water retention, and habitat availability for native wildlife.
The species included:
- Large-leaved Terminalia, Agarwood, and Palaquium formosanum as canopy trees, which help retain water and provide shelter for avian species.
- Ehretia microphylla and Randia spinosa as shrubs, which strengthen soil stability and prevent erosion.
- Crinum asiaticum, a salt-tolerant herbaceous plant, selected to reinforce wetland resilience and adapt to changing environmental conditions.
Each species was carefully evaluated by environmental specialists to ensure compatibility with the local habitat and long-term ecological benefits.

Engaging Employees Through Hands-On Learning
Before planting, participants engaged in an interactive educational program, including a hands-on learning experience titled “Little Green’s Wish.” Through this activity, employees simulated the growth journey of a young tree, encountering real-world challenges such as climate adaptation, extreme weather conditions, and human impact.
By participating in this activity, employees gained a deeper understanding of biodiversity conservation, reinforcing how individual and corporate actions collectively contribute to larger environmental goals.

Strengthening ESG Impact Through Action
As the tree-planting activity commenced, FCF employees worked together, taking up hoes and pickaxes to carefully dig into the soil, preparing a solid foundation for each seedling. With great care, they placed the young trees into the holes, gently covering the roots with soil to ensure they were firmly anchored to the earth. To enhance the seedlings’ survival rate, bamboo stakes and cardboard supports were used to stabilize them, preventing them from toppling due to wind or external forces and providing essential early-stage protection.
As the event drew to a close, employees wrote heartfelt messages beside the newly planted saplings, expressing their commitments to environmental protection and their hopes for a greener future. Each message embodied both personal aspirations and the collective promise of the company toward sustainability.
The activity concluded with a group photo beside the freshly planted trees, marking the successful completion of this sustainability initiative. More than just a corporate engagement, this event served as a profound interaction with nature—turning abstract concepts like biodiversity into tangible actions. By experiencing firsthand the effort involved in ecological restoration, employees gained a deeper understanding of how FCF integrates ESG commitments through responsible sourcing, project management, and environmental stewardship.
Looking ahead, FCF will continue to strengthen its ESG strategy by advancing more ecological conservation initiatives. Whether through reducing greenhouse gas emissions, reinforcing supply chain sustainability, or actively investing in community environmental projects, the company remains committed to taking long-term, meaningful actions. Sustainability is not just a corporate responsibility—it is a fundamental pillar of FCF’s business development and future growth.
