Taiwan, Kaohsiung (March, 15, 2022) – On February, FCF co., Ltd. (FCF) invited experts from Bureau Veritas Certification (BVC) to train FCF in the international guidelines of auditing management systems “ISO 19011:2018”. The purpose of this training was to increase FCF’s capacity for the FCF social responsibility program (SRP) and through our supply chain engagement expand this knowledge to assist the improvement of the wider tuna supply chain.
The tuna fishing industry has shifted focus over the years, previously the priority was in the improvement and sustainability of the tuna stocks and the environment. In recent years the attention has been directed at improving human rights and labor in the tuna supply chain. To facilitate improvement in the tuna supply chain FCF developed the FCF Social Responsibility Program to provide the tuna suppliers with industry best practice capacity building and the tools for implementation.
Since 2021, FCF enhanced the FCF social responsibility program structure on a program cycle base and continuing to strengthen FCF’s internal capacity. The expert from Bureau Veritas emphasized the importance of ISO 19011 management systems audit guidance and provided insight from an auditor’s perspective on improvements through findings. This was also an opportunity for FCF employees to review the social program design.
BVC is a world leader in testing, inspection and certification services (TIC), is also the only international inspection licensing institute with a dedicated seafood certification team in Taiwan. The level of BVC’s expertise provides quality training to FCF which in turn increases FCF’s capacity to support the supply chain in risk management, while maintaining the 3 pillars of sustainability — “economy”, “environment” and “social responsibility” through an effective management system.
